Jason Cohen, DDS has been a Straine client since 2011 and is proud of the investment he has made in state-of-the-art technology in order to provide comprehensive dental care to the thousands of patients he serves in Southgate, Michigan.

Before contacting Straine Dr. Cohen recalls feeling that he had hit a dead end and his practice needed new direction. Dr. Cohen says, “I had the feeling that the methods I used to run my practice were outdated and I didn’t have the tools or know-how to grow. Although I had an exceptional clinical education, in dental school we were only instructed on how to drill, fill and bill. I needed to learn how to run my practice on all cylinders in order to create a world-class experience for my patients and fulfill my personal and professional dreams.

Kerry Straine notes that Dr. Cohen’s and his team’s willingness to execute a comprehensive strategic plan was a large part of the positive results he’s experienced so far. Kerry Straine says, “My organization prepared the Straine Comprehensive Practice Analysis, yet when we met, I wanted to spend more time learning about Dr. Cohen’s goals. I have learned over the past several decades that data is a distraction to the dream, and I’m all about the dream. I learned that Dr. Cohen wanted to build a new facility and fill it with state-of-the-art technology. In order to create a solid foundation for the growth strategies I had in mind, we started Dr. Cohen with our basic building blocks of daily huddles and weekly staff meetings. We taught Dr. Cohen and his team how to identify daily opportunities for increasing production and all the points of contact he had missed sharing his vision with his patients. We were able to orchestrate specific steps, exceed patient expectations and explode the bottom line. Dr. Cohen and his team got excited about reaching the goals we had set together.”

Dr. Cohen credits Straine for helping him create a step-by-step plan for his staff to follow, “I’ve always had good leadership skills but Straine helped me be crystal clear in identifying the tasks we needed to perform every day in order to reach our goals. We spent a lot of time perfecting a variety of operating policies, even entirely overhauling our hygiene department. My staff and I like that we monitor the changes every day to see if, in fact, they generate the results we expect. It’s a very collaborative relationship with Straine and the feedback is immediate as Straine monitors the benchmarks and coaches us on small changes we can make every day.”

Straine is pleased to report that within six months, 93% of Cohen’s patients rescheduled at the time of their continuing care appointment. Implementing customized Straine Management System™ tools resulted in 24% growth in 2012 and a still-impressive 8% in 2013, which enabled Cohen to realize his dream in 2013 of building a state-of-the-art dental facility.
