Possessing exceptional clinical skills, Dr. Kaz Uyesugi delivers a full range of cosmetic procedures –including veneers, bonding, bridges and tooth-colored fillings – in his high-tech, soft-touch San Jose, California practice.  It was at a study club meeting in 2005 that Dr. Uyesugi first heard Kerry Straine introduce the practice-changing strategies that have enabled him to make his dreams come true.  Dr. Uyesugi has been a committed Straine client ever since. Dr. Uyesugi’s practice was growing in 2005 with production at $1.1 million, yet he felt there was room for improvement.  “I felt like I was on the Titanic with no course.  I needed help defining my vision, communicating my mission and putting systems in place so I could lead my team to implement my policies and achieve my goals.  I wanted to purchase my own building and improve my leadership skills and the leadership skills of my staff.  In dental school, I was taught how to be a dentist but I didn’t learn the business fundamentals that would support my clinical purpose.”

According to Straine, “Dr. Uyesugi is responsible for attracting his winning team, and we assisted with shaping their behaviors, training, motivating and working on very specific results.  We also periodically examine and evaluate Dr. Uyesugi’s goals, objectives and policies and discuss if we need to update or revise any element.  To achieve his long-term goals, we developed short- and medium-term strategies and action plans that were consistent with Dr. Uyesugi’s vision.”

Dr. Uyesugi grew a 1,600 square foot practice with four treatment rooms into a 4,200 square foot practice with eight treatment rooms.  “In the first year of working with Straine, our production grew by 28% and, in 2013, we moved into our new facility having grown over our initial year with Straine by over 101%, or over $1 million per year!  I was able to purchase a perfectly located building and transform it into the practice of my dreams, which is not easy to do in the Bay Area.  This year I’m going to hire an associate and additional administrator, and we expect to produce over $2.4 million, which is a 20% increase compared to 2013.  In 2015, my goal is to enjoy more personal time, and with a new associate in place, this goal will be met for I anticipate that production and collections should top $3 million.  We are constantly looking down the road while embracing challenges and opportunities for growth.  With Straine, my growth opportunities are limitless as long as my vision and commitment is clear!”
