The HOPE Award – Annie Higgins, Office Manager – Advanced Dental Care

“Helping Others Perform Effectively”Annie Higgins

“I love educating our patients about their treatment plan and insurance options.  As an Office Manager I have the privilege of not only working closely with our patients, I also have the opportunity to do a little bit of everything at the practice.“  Annie Higgins joined Dr. William Moorman’s and Dr. Barclay Woodward’s team in 2011 as a part-time front desk assistant before becoming the full time Office Manager in 2012, “I tried being a stay-at-home mom but quickly learned that life wasn’t for me.  I love interacting with people and treat every team member with respect and approach every situation by placing myself in their shoes first.  I was raised to treat the janitor the same as the CEO.”

It’s no surprise that Annie’s love for people led her to graduate from East Tennessee State University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice, “I’m fascinated with how the mind works and why people choose to do the things they do.  I have always had a desire to help people and guide them to understand their actions so they can make better life choices and lead a more fulfilling life.”  Annie says she has a love for helping others and a passion for numbers, “Since I started working with Straine, I’ve learned so much about analyzing numbers and ways to make the practice more productive and profitable.  Our Practice Development Coach Lee Ann Burke is wonderful and helps me understand the big picture.  I’ve worked with other consultants in the past but none of them compare to the depth of knowledge at Straine.  Straine is top notch!”  Lee Ann says Annie’s ability to excel at her job done is because of her exceptional leadership skills, “Annie embodies the qualities of resilience, optimism and willingness, what we call at Straine ‘non-negotiable traits’ in an employee.  Annie easily steps outside her comfort zone and seeks different approaches to challenges within the practice, and she is consistent in her efforts, which leads to persistent and powerful results.”
