The HOPE Award – Marcey Mason, Office Manager, Family Dental Care
“Helping Others Perform Effectively”Marcey Mason

Marcey Mason graduated from New Hampshire Community Technical College with an Associate Degree in Accounting and joined the Family Dental Care in Milford, New Hampshire as an after school File Clerk in 1998 before being promoted to Office Manager in 2000, “I know a little bit about everything and I’m often involved in a variety of functions in running this practice. I work the front desk, schedule appointments and occasionally prepare treatment rooms. Even though I’m comfortable working in a dental practice, I consider myself a work in progress and continue to learn and grow every day.”

Marcey says her desire to be a fair manager can be difficult at times, “My biggest challenge is trying to keep everyone happy. I always try to put myself in the other person’s shoes and would never ask anyone to do something that I wouldn’t do. I am first and foremost respectful of our team members and their perspective, yet I remind everyone that we must also focus on keeping the business side of our practice on track. It can be a juggling act.” One way Marcey works through challenges is by attending the Nashua Area Dental Office Manager Group meeting, “For the past six years I’ve been part of this office manager group and it’s such an amazing support group. We always bounce ideas off one another and we learn new ideas from the guest speaker. One year our Straine Consultant, Randy Bird, was the presenter.”

Straine Consultant Randy Bird says he nominated Marcey for The HOPE Award because of her willingness to learn as well as her commitment to educate others, “Marcey is a tremendous student of both the ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ side of dentistry.  It has been a joy to work with her and witness her growth as a leader!” Marcey says she is grateful for the support she’s received from Straine, “Since we started working with Straine, we’ve learned to pay close attention to our practice numbers on StraineOnline and I agree with the Straine Philosophy: the numbers never lie. I can count on our Consultant Randy Bird and Practice Development Coach Sara Holder whenever I need guidance. I’m thankful Straine is on our side!”
