The HOPE Award —Stacy Subdhan, Operations Manager, North Shore Comprehensive Dentistry

“Helping Others Perform Effectively”Stacy S.

“Get a taste of the field of work you are interested in before fully committing.” This is the advice Stacy Subdhan received from her mother after graduating from Adelphi University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Business Management. She did just that as she began working at North Shore Comprehensive Dentistry in 2007, “After about four years as a part-time assistant, I accepted the head assistant position Dr. John Sheehan offered me.” Stacy excelled as the head assistant and by 2015 became the Operations Manager at the practice, “I miss assisting at times but I truly love my job and enjoy coming to work. There’s no better feeling than getting things done and leaving work with everything on my list completed. It’s important to be busy loving your life so that you have no time for hate, regret or fear.”

Even though Stacy loves her career, the position comes with some challenges, “I’m the youngest in the practice and have many responsibilities. I’ve had to learn to adapt to everyone’s different behavioral styles and in return this has helped us work well as a team. It’s a mature team so my co-workers have watched me grow professionally and personally over the years.” When Stacy does encounter day-to-day obstacles, she doesn’t hesitate to contact her Practice Development Coach Suki Kaur, “I talk to Suki almost every day. We’re scheduled to speak once a week but I call her frequently because I need her expert advice. Our Consultant John DiMartino is also very helpful and always available. They both have helped to create positive energy within the practice.” Suki says she nominated Stacy for The HOPE Award because of her dedication to improving the practice, “She has a willingness to learn and influence others. I would describe her as problem solver who never hesitates to do whatever it takes to grow the practice.”

Stacy says she considers herself an honest person with a positive outlook on life, “There will always be positive and negative moments and I choose to not carry negativity throughout my journey. My favorite quote is by Anthony J. D’Angelo, ‘Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.’”
